I'm happy to be alive today because of music.
Well, most specifically the music that I have with me, since music that I don't have with me is pretty useless to me when I need it. I like listening to music for many purposes: to pass the time; to create background music; to drown out that annoying person on the bus who just doesn't stop talking, etcetera. The right music for the right situation can have an almost magical quality: it lifts you up right out of the 'normal' world and just makes everything better.
It also helps to alleviate road rage.
