I'm happy to be alive today because of old books.
I should clarify the 'old' by using the example of Dracula, since that's what I'm currently reading. My specific reasoning is this: with many books published around or before that time, the language and syntax used were practically made for reading aloud, and I am a complete sucker for books that make you want to find someone to snuggle up next to and read aloud to them. It's quite the weakness, I must say.
But hey, don't our weaknesses make us human?
